Here's how we'll spend our time:
Before we meet, I’ll read through your intake form so I understand why you booked the call and what you’d like to accomplish. I’ll also prepare a few questions ahead of time so we can jump right in and make the most of our time together.

Parents come to me with the same kinds of problems, and the cause behind them is different in almost every family.
“She memorized the book. I cannot tell whether she is actually reading it.”
Memorizing is a normal stage rather than a problem. What matters is what you do with that same book next, and most parents move on from it too early.
“He shuts down the second anything with words on it comes out.”
Usually this has stopped being about reading. Something in the routine has started to feel like a test, and the fix is in the setup rather than in more practice.
“She reads fine with me and freezes the moment anyone else is watching.”
Almost always confidence rather than skill. It responds to a change in how you practice together, and it rarely responds to practicing more.

Usually a skill underneath the lesson got skipped, so the lesson has nowhere to land. Repeating it will not help until the gap underneath is filled.

Fill out the intake form honestly, and have whatever materials you already use within reach. If you are able to record a short video of your child reading or working on sounds, send it along, because thirty seconds of footage tells me more than a paragraph does.
It is not. A good part of this work is knowing what is reasonable to expect right now and what to leave alone until later. Plenty of these calls end with a parent doing less rather than more.
It is neither. I am a reading teacher rather than a clinician. If something in the call suggests your child should be seen by a speech language pathologist or an educational specialist, I will say so plainly and tell you what to ask for.

The call is $399 and runs a full hour. If it is not the most helpful reading conversation you have had, I will refund it in full.
