Accessibility
Reading, within reach for everyone.
We want every parent and child to be able to use Toddlers Can Read, including those who rely on screen readers, keyboard navigation, or other assistive technology. Here is where we stand, and how to reach a real person if something gets in your way.
Our commitment
Toddlers Can Read is committed to making our website usable for everyone, including people with disabilities. We are a small, founder-led team, and because our site changes often as we add new products and lessons, we treat accessibility as ongoing work rather than a finished checkbox.
The standard we aim for
We are working to bring our site in line with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA, the standard used worldwide for accessible websites. We believe the site is currently partially conformant: most of it meets the standard, and we are actively improving the parts that do not fully meet it yet.
If something is not working
Tell us, and we will fix it or find another way.
This is the most important part of this page. If anything on our site is hard to use or get to, email us and tell us what happened and where. We will do our best to help you and to fix the problem.
- We aim to reply within 3 business days.
- Prefer another format? We can share information by large print, plain text, or over the phone. Just ask.
What we focus on
- Text and backgrounds with enough contrast to read comfortably, checked against WCAG 2.2 AA.
- Images described for screen readers, with clear labels on forms and buttons.
- Pages you can move through with a keyboard and visible focus, not just a mouse.
- A layout that adjusts to larger text and different screen sizes.
- Accessibility built into the site itself, rather than an automatic overlay or accessibility widget.
Most browsers and devices also include built-in tools for text size, contrast, and zoom, and our site is built to work with them.
Where we still have work to do
We know some parts of our site may not be fully accessible yet, and some content we embed from other services, like video players and reviews, is partly outside our direct control. We are working through these, and we would rather be honest about that than pretend everything is perfect. If one of these gets in your way, contact us using the details above and we will get you the information another way.
The details
Compatibility. The site is built to work with current versions of major browsers (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge) and common screen readers. Very old browsers may not be fully supported.
How we check. We assess the site ourselves using automated tools alongside manual keyboard and screen-reader testing. We have not yet completed a formal third-party audit.
